Colton's 2!

 Colton turned two on December 20th.  It was a Saturday, so we were able to have Brandon's parents and sister come and spend the weekend with us.  We had a family party for Colt that night, but he opened his presents from Brandon's family earlier in the day {and everyone got to open some Christmas presents since we wouldn't be seeing Brandon's parents again before Christmas}.  Let's just say that after opening all that, I was pretty sure we didn't even need to have the party that night! Our boys are quite loved.....and spoiled!

All of my family here in town was able to make it to the party.  For the past few weeks whenever Uncle Ryan would ask Colton what he wanted for his birthday, Colton would say bacon.  Every single time.   So guess what he got from Ryan and Brandi?  BACON!

Another common answer he would give when asked what he would like for his birthday was candy.  Luckily Aunt Courtney {or as Colton calls her....Stinky} and Uncle Daniel came through for him.  When he opened their box, I am pretty sure he did not even see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle DVD.  He went straight for the candy.  Paxton, however, was quite excited about the DVD!

Colton also received a bunch of tractors and some more Ninja Turtle stuff.  Both he and Paxton were pretty excited with everything {and my dad apparently}.

There were two toys that we were all sure that Colton would LOVE!  One was a ride on tractor thing that we found at Costco, and the other was a cap gun with caps that Ryan and Brandi got him.   We waited until everything had been opened to bring out the big tractor.  We didn't get quite the reaction we were expecting.  He was okay with it and everything, but not super excited, so Brandon tried to put him in the seat and Colton completely lost it.  He wouldn't have a thing to do with it for the rest of the night!  So we thought that maybe opening the cap gun would cheer him up a bit.  We were wrong again!  He was absolutely terrified of the cap guns {after we shot a couple of caps}.  Like he was shaking and crying and yelling "fireworks!" he was so scared.  It was definitely one of the saddest/funniest things he has ever done.

{Luckily, by the next morning he had decided that both the tractor and gun {minus the caps} were actually fun to play with}

After Colton's meltdown, we decided we probably better get the cake and ice cream out since nothing makes that boy happier than something sweet and full of sugar.

Colton has never ever been a kid that would sit down and watch a show for more than about 2 minutes, but something happened within the past 2 weeks and he has become quite taken with Frozen.  As in it is the only movie he has ever actually sat down and watched!  And he wants to watch it ALL THE TIME!  So I decided we should probably do a Frozen themed cake, and thought that an Olaf cake would be perfect.  I asked Colton who he would like on his cake, and he told me Elsa about 5 times.  Since I knew his dad wouldn't be too happy with him having a Princess cake, I tried talking him out of it.  He then said, "Okay, Anna."  So after a short discussion I finally persuaded him that an Olaf cake would be the best.  And I was very pleased/surprised with how well it turned out!

I think overall Colton had a great day.  I'm pretty sure that the birthday party wiped our sweet boy out though, because this is what I found the next morning {which never happens!}

I can hardly believe that our baby boy is 2 years old!  It really does seem like we just had him!  He is getting so independent and grown up though!  He has started using the potty, although we haven't actually tried potty training yet, but he will always go before bath time or if we happen to notice that his diaper is dry.  Once in a while he will refuse to wear his diaper, and so he actually gets to wear big boy underwear, and he has never had an accident in them yet.  I guess we really should just give in and actually do the potty training!

Colton is also quite the talker.  He can repeat just about anything you ask him to.  I have no idea how many words he can say, but I know its a lot!  He is also starting to make sentences, and every once in a while he will surprise us by saying something we didn't realize he knew about!

We moved Colton out of the toddler bed about 2 weeks ago, and he is doing great in the bottom bunk.  He hasn't ever even fallen out of bed yet! Although, he does like to get out of it and wake us up at all hours during the night.

Colton has quite the sweet tooth we have come to realize.  He will do anything for any kind of candy or cookie or ice cream.  And he can just eat and eat and eat, until you try to give him some real food.  The only thing we have found that we cannot seem to use candy to bribe him with is staying in nursery.  He completely looses control when we try to leave him there.  I'm hoping now that he is a big 2 year old he will be able to stay....we'll see.

Colton's best friend is definitely Paxton, and he would love to just follow him around all day everyday. He love's going to pick Paxton up from preschool, and he loves when Paxton will play with him {which happens a lot, Paxton is such a good brother!} He loves sharing a room with Paxton and we often hear him in the mornings trying to wake Paxton up to play.

We just love our sweet boy #2 and can't imagine our life without him.  We love you Colton!
